PURPOSE #2 The strength of Japanese women's football and what lies behind it.

Achievement #1FIFA Women’s World Cup™ won by three generations
(Nadeshiko Japan, U-20 and U-17)

In 2011, Nadeshiko Japan rose to the top of the world. This was 30 years after Japan’s first women’s national team was formed. Since then, the U-17 and U-20 women’s national teams have also become world champions. Women’s football in Japan has come a long way in such a short time thanks to a clear vision and the implementation of various measures in four areas - strengthening the national team, player development, coach education and promotion of the sport.

Achievement #2Winning through fair play

Since the launch of the Fair Play Campaign in 1989, JFA has worked to promote the importance of fair play through initiatives such as the introduction of Fair Play Awards at tournaments held in Japan. JFA believes that fair play and winning are not mutually exclusive, and that Japanese football prides itself on winning through fair play. Japan National Teams in all categories, , including the FIFA Women's World Cup™ winners, Nadeshiko Japan, have won numerous Fair Play Awards at international tournaments.

Achievement #3Training individuals to become world leaders

Since the announcement of FIFA's women's football strategy in 2018, women's football has developed rapidly around the world.
With the establishment of a professional women's league (WE League) and the success of Nadeshiko Japan, more and more women are now involved in the world of football in Japan, not only as players, coaches and referees, but also in management positions with JFA, local football associations and clubs. JFA aims to use women's football as a platform to develop leaders in football and sport, both nationally and internationally, and to promote the empowerment of women.
