With the support of the Japan Sport Council (JSC), Japan Football Association (JFA) will conduct a youth football exchange tournament, as part of the international contribution programme “SPORT FOR TOMORROW.” Four U-21 National teams will compete in this tournament, which will be held between Wednesday 21 March and Sunday 25 March in Paraguay. The tournament will be held in commemoration of the partnership between the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and JFA. It is also aimed to provide an exchange platform for the players participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

During the tournament, instructors involved in Paraguayan women's football will participate in a women’s football festival, along with instructors from the 10 Member Associations of CONMEBOL. The final goal is to contribute to the development of women’s football by introducing the method of organizing a festival as a way of development. We hope that this knowledge will be diffused in other countries of South America by the instructors which will be also organizing the same festival in their own countries several times through various years.

Women’s football festival

Women’s football festival will be held at a separate venue. Participants include women’s football instructors of the Paraguayan Football Association, and one women’s football instructor from each of the 10 Member Associations of CONMEBOL.

SPORTS FOR TOMORROW

‘SPORT FOR TOMORROW’ is an international sport contribution initiative by the Japanese government, which has been announced during the IOC Congress by Prime Minister ABE Shinzo, in order to promote the bidding activities for the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo. It is aimed to diffuse the value of ‘SPORT’ to more than 10 million people across the generation, and over 100 nations, especially developing countries, in the period between 2014 and 2020.
