Japan Football Association (JFA) signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL) on 28 April 2026. JFA and CONMEBOL have cooperated at various levels since the MoU was first signed on 20 December 2017 and hope to further expand their partnership going forward.

The signing ceremony took place in Vancouver, Canada and went in an amicable manner. Both parties discussed how various exchanges can be conducted through the renewal of the partnership this time and expressed high expectations for future initiatives.

The MoU ceremony was conducted in the presence of:
・Mr. Alejandro DOMINGUEZ, President, CONMEBOL
・Mr. Jose ASTIGARRAGA, General Secretary, CONMEBOL
・Mr. MIYAMOTO Tsuneyasu, President, JFA
・Mr. YUKAWA Kazuyuki, General Secretary, JFA

The MoU between CONMEBOL and JFA aims to facilitate cooperation in the following areas:
・Mutual participation in competitions of each category
・Knowledge-sharing between administrative and management staff
・To have assistance by CONMEBOL for JFA to establish favorable relationship with Member Associations/Federations of CONMEBOL (including the matters related to future partnerships)
