JFA Elite Programme Women's U-14 squad spent 2 days for a training match and a Japan-Korea exchange
13 October 2015
11 October, on the second day of their activity, the JFA Elite Programme Women's U-14 had a training session in the morning and they focused on taking shots which was found to be their issue in their first match against Korea held on previous day.
In the afternoon, they had another training match against Daisho Gakuen High School. The opponents are stronger in physical size, speed, kicking power, and intensiveness; it was a challenging match for the players.
In the evening, they got a lecture that used analytical video of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015. The video was produced by JFA Technical Study Group and each player was inspired by the message from the coach KATO Kenji. "There are a lot of amazing players, in the future you will have to play against them."
On 12 October, it was a Japan-Korea Exchange Day which refreshed the players. In the morning, groups of the players made presentations on different themes relating to Sakai city. After the presentations, both Japan and Korean players mixed to make 8 groups of 5 people to play 4 different games which were organised by Japanese coaching staff.
In the afternoon, they visited Shitennoji as a cultural learning session and then enjoyed shopping with the morning group members.
2 days left before the wrap-up of the Elite Programme. The team will have the second match against Korea on 13th.
*This activity is a part of the JOC Japan Korea Joint Sports Project for Enhancing Playing Skills.
GK Coach Comment
IJIMA Masaki (JFA National Training Centre Coach/Tokai University Kumamoto Football Club)
It was the third day of this programme and the players have much more communication on and off the pitch. The second training match was held in this situation. Daisho Gakuen High School is a very wonderful team and I think the players could learn a lot from the game today. Even though they had to play against a good and strong team, I appreciate them for staying connected with good communication and for playing well as an organised team especially in defence.
I want all the players of this programme to understand the importance of communication on and off the pitch more than before, and to grow up more from this camp to be a good influence for their local teams.
Players' Comments
HARADA Ayase (Albirex Niigata Ladies U-15)
For the match against high school players today, I paid more attention to making decisions quicker since they were physically bigger, speedier, and more powerful than us. But I still have some issues such as first-touch and making traps so I want to work hard to improve them as much as possible to make a better performance in the next match.
In these 6 days, I want to keep challenging things not being afraid of making any mistakes, and in defence I just want to grow up enough to cope with any type of players; I never want to lose.
TANIGUCHI Yuki (Cerezo Osaka Sakai Girls)
Since they were high school players, they moved quicker and stronger in any intensive moments. In the first training match we had, I had little coaching and I wasn’t ready for shots; that made us lose 2 goals. Today I paid attention to these issues and tried to be concentrated from the beginning. We could keep a clean sheet.
This is my third time to join in the Elite Programme and now I can communicate with everybody more than before. I can talk with the members not only on the pitch but also in the off time.
MIYATA Asuka (NGU Nagoya FC Ladies Youth)
On 12th, we had joint training with Korean team. To communicate with the Korean players we had to use English and it was hard at times but I enjoyed communicating with them very much. We also enjoyed the training sessions and it was productive time.
In the afternoon, we all went for sight seeing and shopping in town. I got a lot of thing with Korean players. We also tried a local special food together and I was very happy to see Korean players’ smiles at that time. Tomorrow, I will switch my mind well to the match.
ISHIDA Chihiro (JFA Academy Fukushima)
In the Japan-Korea Exchange Day, we had joint training and games together in the morning. My team lost the games except the PSO, but I felt it was a good opportunity to make a good team with deeper understanding by encouraging each other.
In the afternoon, I went for shopping with my teammates of the morning game. While we visited many shops I showed Korean players how to use Japanese money and that was so much fun. It was the day which made me feel the distance between us became very closer.
