Match Report
On the second day of their activity, the JFA Elite Programme Women's U-14 had a workout in the morning. Although they were scheduled to play a game in the afternoon, they went through thorough training menus, ball exchanging drills putting on defensive players such as working on 4-on-2 and 6-on-3 plus freemen in the early portion, and they played a full-court practical game in the latter portion.
After the lunch time, they played an exhibition against the U-14 Korea Republic Women's National Team in the afternoon.
Against Korea, who came in to play with their power early, Japan struggled to have their own pace at the beginning, but they gradually did as they connected their short passes and their side backs actively participated in their attacks.
In the 21st minute, goalkeeper MIYAKE Sayu (Okayama Yunogo Belle U-15, U-18/JFA Academy Sakai) fed the ball she caught to UEDA Kana (Urawa Red Ladies Junior Youth). Then Ueda passed it to OKINO Ruseri (Club Fields Linda), who was in the left side. Okino dodged a Korea defender and fired a shot from a place that had only little angle to the goal, but she managed to make it into the net to give Japan a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Japan created some scoring chances but weren't able to capitalize them for another goals. But they finally expanded their lead in the 56th minute. KADOWAKI Mai (JFA Academy Fukushima), who took off from the left side and found a free space, attempted to send a pass into the middle in the box. It was once deflected by a Korea defender, but TERADA Himeka (Asahi Sport FC Junior Youth) scooped it and connected it to Ueda. Ueda fired a shot with her right foot and it went in the Korea goal.
Nine minutes later, Kadowaki robbed the ball deep in the left side of the Korea territories and launched a cross for IMAKURA Ayano (Ehime FC Ladies Mikan), who ran into the middle space. Imakura headed it into the goal to give Japan a 3-0 lead. Japan retained the score and earned the win.
The Japan team is scheduled to have a training session on the morning and play an exhibition match against a local high school team in the afternoon on the third day.

Coach and Players' Comments
OKINO Ruseri (Club Fields Linda/Hokkaido)
It was the first time for me to play against Korea, so I came in the game not knowing how the Korean players would play at all. We were able to communicate with each other, played collectively and in our own pace, so it was great.
I played as a forward, and I set a goal to put pressure on the opponents' defensive line and make a goal taking behind the defensive line, and I think I was able to do that. Regarding my own goal scene, because I got a very good through pass, I dodged a defender with one touch, and played capitalized on my speed, and it resulted in the goal. Hopefully, I won't make this goal a fluke.
Yet I lost the ball because I was too slow on making decisions after I received it, and I chose passing where I should have taken shots, and those came up as my issues. So I would like to improve on those through our training and games, so I will be able to put up better plays more. And in our next game against Korea, I hope to score to contribute to the victory for the team and would like to run a lot to make it happen.
YOSHIMOTO Konatsu (Cerezo Osaka Sakai Girls/Osaka)
We trained in the morning and played against Korea in the afternoon today. In the morning practice, I practiced being aware of seeing forward. And I played as a centre back in the Korea game in the afternoon. The good parts were, we were able to coach with each other between the defensive line and controlled the line, and didn't allow the Korea players come closer to the goal easily.
As my own issues, because foreign players, including of Korea, were bigger, I wasn't able to occasionally play on par with them physically and didn't run as well as them. But even on those occasions, we cooperated with each other and were able to get away with the 3-0 win. I would like to capitalize on this experience for our training going forward.
