JFA Elite Programme Under-14 wrapped up training camp
18 September 2014
After the Elite Programme Under-14 team sent the Korean team off, they played a 25-minute-a-half intra-squad match to wrap up their training on the 16th. They fully exhibited their own games, making sure about their outcomes and issues that they found in contests.
The Elite Programme for this generation kicked off under head coach YOSHIDA Hiroshi at Tokinosumika last May and this was the final phase of it. After this, the players would act in national teams and selections of each generation and there’ll be harsher competitions there. They dismissed, promising that they would develop along with all the 18 players at their own clubs and national training centres before they meet up in their future activities.

NEZU Makoto(Fukushima Prefecture: JFA Academy Fukushima)
I have finished in the Elite Programme, for which I had participated in for all the six activities since when I was in my first year at junior high school. Through these, we got to be able to play games against teams from outside of Japan and deepen our understandings with them, while we were able to fight against some of the teams that were physically stronger. The match against Korea this time was our first game we played against them since June’s 2014 AFC Under-14 Girls’ Regional Championship, and it was a very valuable match for us to play as they raised their level and we were able to find our growths as well as our issues. We also learned so many other things, such as our nutritions and lives, not just football, as we would like to take advantage of this experiences and develop into better players, along with other members I got to spend time with.
SHIBAYAMA Fumina(Aichi Prefecture: NGU Nagoya FC Ladies)
I’ve been on this Elite Programme since my first year in junior high school and this training camp was the last one. After this, we are going to play at national teams of each generation.
Through this programme, I got to experience so many valuable things. I was able to learn a lot of various different things, including football, our daily lives and exchanging with foreign players. In terms of football, I was instructed to play at a position that I wasn’t so familiar with, played against foreign players who were physically stronger and faster, and it led to my development as a player. Off the pitch, I think that I became more aware of other things through the group life, and I got to be able to be independent.
I hope to continue to do what I learned here when I return to the team.
INOUE Moe(Saitama Prefecture:Urawa Reds Ladies junior youth)
I was able to learn how to manage playing football and taking care of my daily life off the pitch because of this Elite Programme. I would like to bring these back to the team and tell my teammates what I learned here.
Off the pitch, I was aware of how to properly take meals so I could prepare myself to play better for playing football. I was taught important things like the balance of the meals, volume of it, the times of it.
As for football, we were asked to precisely carry out football techniques, which are stopping, kicking and looking. I thought that it was so important to take care of each single play, such as trapping the ball with an intention, even if you make it look easily.
YODOGAWA Tomoharu, head coach
This training camp was the last activity for the Elite Programme for this generation, and I have been with it as head coach for three times at the training camp in March's Wakura, Ishikawa Prefecture, June's 2014 AFC Girls' Regional Championship and the training camp of this time.
With a promise to continue what this team's done since it was in the Under-13 category and a promise we made as the Under-14 team in mind, I tried to act along with these players. Our players understood the promises well and went about their activities with positive attitudes, and they challenged to correct issues that they came up with and develop what they achieved. I appreciated our staff members for having supported these challenges together. I hope the players to keep their challenges that could change their daily life without fear, not that they finish the challenges here at the Elite Programme.
I would like to show my deepest appreciation to those who understood the concepts of this programme and gave it their supports, sharing their significant time. And lastly, I would like to say to our players, ''Thank you!''
