Mendes, Japan National Beach Football Squad host clinic in Okayama
03 June 2014
Japan beach football national team head coach Marcelo Mendes and player Ozu Moreira hosted a beach football clinic at the Shibukawa beach in Okayama Prefecture for the fourth time this year for two days from 31 May. They had a lecture and practical lesson for those players and coaches who assembled from all over the Chugoku region.
They took longer time for explanations on things that the participants had questions about in the past clinics and that they would be curious about, while they actually demonstrated some complicated things of both offensive and defensive systems, so they would fully understanding on them.
In the practical lesson portion, the participants were given some detailed teachings, such as moves on and off the ball, height and velocities on passes, and they appeared to try to catch every word that came out of the head coach's mouth.

I was able to re-learn beach football. As we got to learn from the national team coach and Ozu, whom you don't usually get to see in person and acknowledge the global standards very well, it was a beneficial occasion for both myself and the team.
It was particularly eye-opening for me to know that they have values in their fundamentals and spend about half an hour for practicing their fundamentals every day, even during their training camps. I hope to capitalize on this opportunity for the technical developments of myself and my teammates. I would like the clinic to be held in Okayama next year, too, and if that happens, I would like to show how much I will have improved by then.

The contents were easy to understand for us and I was able to learn individual techniques and tactics. They put some humors in between, but taught us until we would fully understand when they lessoned some difficult things. The levels of other participants were high as well, and it made me feel like I needed to raise my level.

As the clinics run by the national team coach have been held throughout the country, it gives more opportunities for the players to showcase themselves for the national team bids. I think that it's also a good thing in terms of conveying how the national team plays and what tactics they use in the whole nation. We understood coach Marcelo's concepts very well and it deepened my knowledge as well.
One of the better things about it was that since we got to have the practical lessons right after the lectures, we could quickly carry out what we just learned into action.
On my team, our players come up with our practice menus on our own, so I'm thinking to share what I learned here with my teammates. I would like to be ready for a possible call-up by the national team.
YAGI Yasuyuki(PaZamor)
The beach football has yet to be spread out, but as we were able to learn about its tactics from the national team coach, and if activities like this will be held throughout the nation, I felt that the level of beach football in Japan will develop.
I thought that the length of the practical lesson could have been a bit longer, but I would like to share the contents that we got this time with my team to raise our level. Thank you so much.

The techniques and tactics of beach football will spread out by the clinics being held all over the nation, so it certainly give a better chance for the game to develop. Coach and Ozu taught us high-quality things and they were beneficial to us.
Among the participants of the clinic this time, some of their teams practice for six times a week, and it was a good experience for me to play along with those players together. I would like to understand the offensive and defensive systems as a whole team and try them in actual contests.
