Match Report

The Beach Soccer Japan National Team played their third game on the South America tour against a talented team, Praia JR, in which several players had played for the Brazil national team or the Portugal national team.
At the beginning of the match, despite numerous goal-scoring opportunities, neither team could find the back of the net. Just before the end of the first period, Akaguma Takuya, who reacted to a cross from Komaki Masayuki, struck the opener from a header. The first period ended 1-0 to Japan. In the second period, Japan conceded two goals due to repeated mistakes that were unusual for Japan. Then at the start of the last period, Japan were one goal behind at 2-1.

Comments

Marcelo MENDES, Head Coach
Today’s match was the toughest one since we’ve come to Brazil. As the opponent put in a really high-level performance, Japan had to let them take the initiative in the middle of the match. However, the players showed their own playing style and turned the match around. I’m very satisfied.

KOMAKI Masayuki(TOKYO LEQUIOS BS)
I think we’ve been having a very productive week in Brazil with our practice sessions and training matches. As it was the third game on this tour, each player cooperated better tactically or in the set pieces. I’d like to stay focused to play well in the remaining matches.

AKAGUMA Takuya(Dorsole Kitakyushu)
Today’s match gave our team some confidence, as we turned the game around after being pressed by the opponent. Tomorrow’s match will be the last one on the Brazil tour, but I’d like to keep up with the coach’s request to play well.
