Miguel Rodrigo, Head Coach
For the first ten minutes from the beginning of the game, I could see the players were still very tired from the previous two games. They weren’t relaxed enough. In terms of the defence, the players couldn’t press the opponent first. Then they began to strengthen their defensive line after conceding two goals, which made the match more competitive. Although we created many goal-scoring opportunities, we couldn’t find the back of the net well today. In the second half, we conceded a couple more goals from big mistakes. The overall content of the game wasn’t too bad, but there were small gaps in their play and something wasn’t quite right. I think it was because of their physical and mental exhaustion, which prevented them from concentrating well. However, we threw everything into attack toward the end of the game and scored three goals. We proved that our strategy works very well.

We've been eight days on our Italy tour and we have played three practice matches. Both Japanese and Italian anthems were played before the match, which made us feel as though we had been in a real championship. Although we lost the game, the content of the game wasn’t too bad at all, except conceding some goals. Especially in the second half, we pressed the opponent from the front very well. We could also continue that until taking shots, using the defence efficiently. The reason we lost today, I think, is we just couldn't score whenever we tried, until we threw everything into attack. Having said that, I think we can be confident, knowing Japan’s advantage - throwing everything into attack - worked against Italy. As we still have three matches to play, I’d like to get good results, making this tour more fruitful before going back to Japan.
MORI Shuta(Shriker Osaka)
Today we played the third game out of six on the Italy tour. As we won both the first and the second matches, I really wanted to win the game today as well. However, we lost it 4-3. Today’s opponent was really organised unlike the previous two teams. While in the last two games, each player played using their individual skills, today the opponent played strategically and harmoniously as well, which was really tough to play against. Actually, I don’t see any level difference between them and us. The quality of some small plays, including faking out or supporting, and the determination to score decided the match. We have five days to go in Italy and I’ve been having a very fulfilling time here. Everything is new to me and I have experienced a lot - it’s my first time to play wearing the Japan national team shirt, to play an evening game after a long flight, to play against Italian players, who are so different from Japanese players, and to spend some time abroad with the Japan national team players, who I usually play against. I’m grateful that the Italian staff organised the matches for us in their busiest time just after the season started, and that my club team released me without any complaint in the middle of the season. I’d like to keep in mind I could play futsal thanks to all that support. I’ll try harder to learn more in the final three matches.
