Japan National Beach Soccer Team's USA & Costa Rica trip report (19 January)

The Japan National Beach Soccer Team, entering the third day of their camp on Thursday 19 January in Costa Rica, continued their two-a-day training in the morning and afternoon just like the previous day.

The morning session was focused on tactics. The team was first put through technical training including drills for ball controlling and passing. And then, they repeatedly went through offensive tactics in game situations by attacking in one direction. It did not work well at times, but the players communicated well with one another and made the necessary adjustments to improve their combinations.

In the afternoon, the Japanese squad practised mainly by having intrasquad games on a full-sized pitch. After a warm-up, the players were divided into two teams, and they reviewed their tactics they have used in recent matches and then tried to improve their combination and playing accuracy.

They wrapped up the third day of their Costa Rica camp with penalty and free kicks at the end of the training as they normally do.

Friday 20 will be the day one day prior to the training match against Costa Rica. The training session as their final tune-up will take place at 11 a.m. at the same kick-off time of the Saturday match.

Players' Comments

FP OBA Takaaki (Dorsole Kitakyushu)
Today's was the third day of training in Costa Rica and we focused on improving team tactics both in the morning and in the afternoon. As for offensive moves, we've found plenty of tasks which need to be worked on from a series of matches against the USA and recent intrasquad scrimmages, so we tried to improve those by communicating with one another while paying close attention to the details and the quality of those plays. We will make a good preparation to finalise the team for the upcoming Costa Rica matches and attain positive results.

GK KAWAI Yusuke (Sol Mar Praia Okinawa)
Today, we had training centred on tactics. During practice, we made sure that we are on the same page regarding what we are supposed to do on the pitch. Tactics can bring forth the Japanese style of team football which can overwhelm the world-class opponents, so we need to understand them well. We will work hard together to get positive results in the coming Costa Rica matches at the same time taking this team to a higher level for future competitions.
