U-19 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad start training camp in Miyazaki

U-19 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad start training camp in Miyazaki

U-19 Japan Women’s National Team short-listed squad started their training camp in Miyazaki.

In the warm sun, the players started with some physical tests in the morning, including 40-metre sprints, bounding training, 10-metre shuttle runs, and the yo-yo test, which measures players’ stamina. During the yo-yo test, they had to run a fixed distance more and more quickly. SHIMIZU Risa (Nippon TV Beleza) lasted until the end.

Then the players moved onto passing and controlling, followed by 6-on-6 and 7-on-7 games with goalkeepers to finish the practice session.

The coach TAKAKURA Asako, who won the Coach of the Year at the 2015 AFC Annual Awards, joined the team after dinner. This camp was the team’s first activity after the AFC U-19 Women's Championship in August. During the meeting, the team shared their aim for the coming FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Papua New Guinea 2016.

Players' Comments

OGA Risako (Nippon Sport Science University)
We measured our physical strength while refreshing our bodies in the afternoon, and finished the session with a mini game. I’m pleased that I’m here to join the national team’s camp for the first time. During this camp, I’d like to focus on keeping a consistently high quality in each and every play. I want to learn many things through communicating with others in the limited time available.

SAIHARA Mizuki (Angeviolet Hiroshima)
This is the first time I’ve joined the U-19 Japan Women's National squad’s camp. There were some players I knew and some I didn’t. I think I displayed my strength during the physical tests as well as passing and controlling practice. I enjoyed the mini game, and communicating well with others.

I’d like to stay mentally strong and show my strengths to learn high-level football. I also intend to enjoy everyday life during this four-day camp, not to mention football itself.

SUMIDA Rin (Nippon TV Beleza)
We started with a physical test, followed by passing training and a mini game. Our aim is to claim the title in the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2016 next year. I think we need to improve on physical aspects, techniques and tactics to close the level-gap between the world’s strongest teams and us. During the limited time available at the camp, I’d like to cooperate with my teammates to raise the level of the team, not to mention showcasing my skills.

HIRAO Chika (Urawa Reds Ladies)
Although I wasn’t satisfied with my physical test result, I enjoyed myself very much, focusing on showing off skills, during the 6-on-6 and 7-on-7. My aim in this camp is to take the leadership, so that the team becomes more united in preparation for the coming world championship. Personally, I’d like to make every second count to improve myself both in everyday life and in the physical aspects, not to mention in technical skills.

NISHIDA Meika (Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies)
It was the first camp since we booked a place in an international tournament, the AFC U-19 Women's Championship. In the afternoon, we did some physical measurements, such as the yo-yo test, followed by passing and controlling. Then we were divided into four teams to play a mini game. As there are many players whom I have never met before, I’d like to get to know each other during the limited time available.

I’ll try my hardest in this camp, staying conscious of the coming world championship, and display my ability as much as possible. I’d like to communicate eagerly with my teammates off the pitch as well.
