Japan’s U-19 loosen up for the final – Vietnam trip report (12 Sep)
13 September 2014
After defeating Thailand in the semi-final, Japan National U-19 Team, without using the practice facility, did only light conditioning work in a swimming pool at the hotel targeting for the final match tomorrow. It did not last very long, but players loosened up in a very relaxing swimming pool and got themselves ready for the upcoming match.
After the work, all players together secretly planned to push athletic trainer Matsuodani into the pool to celebrate his birth-month of September. The mission was successfully accomplished and Matsuodani in the water enjoyed the birthday song and big celebration.
Finally 13 September will have the final match against the host country Vietnam. 40,000 tickets have been sold out, and the stadium is expected to be full of local Vietnamese fans. The players, however, seem to be looking forward to the challenging atmosphere. As this tournament is regarded as the final tune-up for the AFC U-19 Championship in October, winning this championship is the final assignment left for the team.
Comments
NAKAMURA Kosuke(Kashiwa Reysol)
Tomorrow, we will have the final match against Vietnam. We will be all ready to win the championship. We will be glad if you all could keep supporting us.
SUGIMOTO Taro(Kashima Antlers)
We did some workout in a swimming pool, and it was for our recovery as well. The next match is our fourth match and if we put it in the timeframe of the AFC U-19 Championship in October, there would be a spot in the U-20 World Cup at stake. So this next match will be important for us in that regard, too. We will get ready for it.
OYAMA Keisuke(Omiya Ardija)
Including the recovery work we did in the swimming pool, we relaxed ourselves very nicely all together. We have played collectively even in this tough schedule and we won all matches so far, so we will win the next one, too, and be the champions.
