U-17 Japan Women’s National Team prepares ahead of first match against Brazil at FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Uruguay 2018

With their first match of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Uruguay 2018 against the U-17 Brazil Women’s National Team approaching in two days, the U-17 Japan Women’s National Team participated in a team arrival meeting and received a lecture hosted by FIFA on match fixing on Saturday 10 November.

The following day, on Sunday 11 November, the team started its trainings in the afternoon. Ahead of their first match against Brazil, the team held a training session under closed doors, as they went through many practical drills to go over their tactics. Towards the end of the session, players were divided into groups of offence and defence, to deepen their combinations as well as to work on their individual skills.

DF #4 GOTO Wakaba (Nippon TV Menina)
Today was ITO Sara’s birthday. With the help of our staffs, we held a surprise party for her. Through this party, I feel like we managed to deepen our bond within the team. Our first match against Brazil is coming up in two days. We have been devoting our time to prepare for this match ever since we have arrived in Uruguay. The preparation went very well, and we will strive to earn results at this match. We will give our very best as a team to win the first match of this tournament.

MF #20 ISHIDA Chihiro (JFA Academy Fukushima)
It has been six days since arriving to Uruguay, and we have gradually gotten used to the environment here. The team has built up a positive vibe heading into the tournament as well. In terms of football, the team has gone over the concepts through the meetings and everyone is not afraid to play with aggression. The team has also been utilising the time off the pitch effectively to participate in recreational activities and create a theme song for the team, building a strong bond as a team. Our goal is to win the World Cup, and the match against Brazil is our first step towards that goal. We will take one match at a time and prepare ourselves so that we can win the match.
