Final prep workout for England match by U-17 Japan women’s Team in FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016

Final prep workout for England match by U-17 Japan women’s Team in FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016

The temperature is rather low in the morning and early afternoon, which brings a sign of autumn. Under the first cloudy sky they saw after the arrival in Jordan, U-17 Japan Women’s National Team spent the morning time for a walk-around and study time. In the afternoon, the practice was held at a natural turf pitch located 10 minutes away from their hotel.

The session began with passing and controlling drills. Then the focus shifted to defence, side attacks and set-pieces. During the set-pieces review, players worked out with sharing ideas with each other. The time after the team practice was spared for individual training as well around for 10 minutes, where each one of the squad stuck to her own assignment until it was satisfyingly solved.

For the spot in the semi-final, the squad will face their England counterpart starting at 19:00. (25:00 the next day at JST) of Thursday 13 October.

Players' Comments

DF #4 TAKAHIRA Miyu (JFA academy FUKUSHIMA)
Finally it’s the quarter-final against England tomorrow. If we win, we will have two more matches to play potentially, and if we lose, we have to go home. It’s a tough battle. This afternoon, we had a training session one last time before taking on England. We had important themes offensively and defensively. Every one of us took time to think about and share the idea of how to break down the opposing defence and control the line with good communication. In tomorrow’s match, we make sure to execute fundamentals, and at the same time we want to play together with everything we have in order to exceed that level.

FW #11 TAKAHASHI Hana (Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies Youth)
It’s the quarter final against England tomorrow. All of us will fight with everything we got to win, advance to the semi-final and allow ourselves to play our football in as many more matches we possibly can. In order to win the championship, this upcoming match is very important. So I want to keep running with all my energy and leave no regret after the match. We will win against England at all cost also for the sake of people who are cheering for us and supporting us.
