U-17 Japan Women’s National Team practice on artificial turf - FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016
11 October 2016
Even during the tournament, the players spare one hour every day for studying. Today was no exception, hitting books and working on their respective assignments in the morning.
In the afternoon, they went out to a facility with an artificial turf pitch. It was the first time for them to use that particular field.
After drills such as 5v5 possession drills, 8v6 in a half-sized pitch, another scrimmage in the same small field and shooting drills, the squad wrapped up the workout with NAGANO Fuka giving a short speech to the team “Let’s stay alert in order to win the next match.”
Tomorrow will have another practice session with their eyes on the quarter-final.
Players' Comments
GK #18 MIZUGUCHI Mayu (YAMATO SYLPHID U-18)
17 days have passed since we got here in Jordan, and we have got used to this environment fairly well. It was good that we passed through the group stage atop, but we have a lot of details to improve. For the rest of the two days before the England match, we want to do the best preparation possible. Even off the pitch, this team have togetherness and good atmosphere. We want to keep going like this for the final match.
MF #7 TAKARADA Saori (CEREZO OSAKA SAKAI Ladies)
We are already used to food and the environment in Jordan, and we are blessed to get to enjoy playing here. In today’s practice, we worked on how to control the line, passing and shooting. We have two more days to make adjustments before the England match. In order to get our conditions perfect for the match day, we keep communicating with each other and make sure to go through good practices.
