Japan under-17 squad have trainings in international youth tourney in Niigata
17 July 2014
In the second day of the camp on 16th July, the team had practice sessions in the morning and afternoon. In the morning, they worked on their offence. Starting with a 3-on-2 passing game, they trained on an 8-on-8 with the pitch size of 68 meters by 69 meters, confirming their offensive flows from buildups to proceeding to breaking through and finally finishing. In the goalkeeper's training, goalkeeper's coach Hamano enthusiastically gave them instructions. The goalkeepers made detailed adjustments, such as where to take positions depending on shooting spots.
In the afternoon, after they warmed up using balls, they did a 3-on-2 passing game like in the morning, and then they played a 6-on-5 in the half court, checking their defence when they are outnumbered.
They wrapped up the day with shooting training. The players would take shots from around the box. It was actually a game and if the offensive squad would score 10 goals within five minutes, they would win, but because the goalkeepers made great saves and ended up winning the contest.
On the 17th, the team were scheduled to play a training match against the Hokushinetsu selective under-17 team. It is an opportunity to check on their current position while they are going to observe whether they could put up what they've done in the camp so far.

KOBAYASHI Hayate(Yokkaichi Chuokogyo High School)
I'm pleased to have been selected for the Japan national under-17 team this time and at the same time I would like to do the best I can put up. Once you are chosen, of course you are supposed to do your best, so I want to challenge on how much I can put up I've done. This is my first time and it's going to be a little difficult to take communication with my teammates, but I think that I should get used to the team gradually. It's not a long period to be on this team, but hopefully I will have felt like it paid off for me to be on this team, both as an individual and a team. I would like to learn as much as I can on this team and make some progress so I will keep being chosen.
URATA Itsuki(JEF United Chiba U-18)
As the second day was finished, I think that we got to be able to do more as a team than in the first day. I'm looking forward to how much we can compete both as a team and an individual against opponents that are physically stronger and better individually like Serbia and Mexico.
KATO Mutsuki(Sanfrecce Hiroshima Youth)
I am extremely thrilled to have been selected on this Japan national under-17 team. As I participated in a national team training for the first time, I felt that I had to be more aware of movements of off the ball. I would like to appreciate for the experience being able to play with the best teammates of this generation and the support of so many people, and finish as the champions in the end.
