Japan U-16 National Team will play international friendly matches against the U-16 national teams of Cyprus, Romania and the Faroe Islands alongside the 2026/27 UEFA European Under-17 Championship Qualifiers, Round 1 Group 13, which will take place in Cyprus from Tuesday, 27 October to Monday, 2 November 2026.

This initiative forms part of the collaboration between the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the Japan Football Association (JFA) aiming at promoting youth player development and providing opportunities for international experience through cross-continental exchanges.

Japan U-16 National Team will play one international friendly match against each of the three teams participating in Group 13 of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifiers, with the matches taking place in parallel with each matchday of the qualifying mini-tournament.

The three matches involving Japan will be played as international friendly matches and will not count towards the official results or group standings of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifiers. Only the matches played between Cyprus, Romania and the Faroe Islands will count towards the official Group 13 qualifying competition.
