Report on U-16 Japan National Team training camp for AFC U-16 Championship in Thailand (26 Aug)
28 August 2014
“98 JAPAN”, U-16 Japan National Team which is aiming to qualify for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, arrived late in the night at their training camp venue in Chonburi, Thailand on the 26th. The players started all-day training sessions immediately from the next morning to prepare for the AFC U-16 Championship.
Both temperature and humidity were very high in Thailand and the players looked very sweaty and tired after the journey from Japan on previous day. However, the team is expected to be consistent and stronger by not only showing that they strengthened themselves through the very hard physical training in Sugadaira, Japan, but also by getting familiar with this heat and environment.
The players will have training sessions in both morning and afternoon on 28 August, and will play training matches against a local club and a school club on 29 and 30.

ASADA Shogo(Kyoto Sanga F.C.U-18)
We have just had a first training session in Chonburi. I found that we shouldn’t be satisfied with our current level if we really want to go through the qualification tournament for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. I will do my best for the up-coming practice and training matches from tomorrow and pay more attention to every play in these sessions.
TOMIYASU Takehiro(Avispa Fukuoka U-18)
It was our first training session in Thailand. The first thing we worked on today was how to deal with this hot weather. In the mini games we had today, all of us felt heavy and sweaty and could not move our bodies very well. Since we cannot waste any of our limited time, we want to boost ourselves well to make this training session a better one.
DOAN Ritsu(Gamba Osaka Youth)
In this morning, we had running and mini-game sessions to sweat a lot. The mini-game session was not a good one because we could not find our aims and did not know what we want to do as a team. So I played with more sense of aim about what I want to do in the mini-game later in this afternoon. As a whole, I am not satisfied with our current condition judging by how we were at our first training session, so I want to do my best to improve our quality and morale.
