Players’ Comments

NAKAMURA Keito (Mitsubishi Yowa SC Sugamo Junior Youth)
As our staff pointed out, we lacked communication between ourselves in our game against Ichiritsu Funabashi High School. It was frustrating that I couldn't put up my own trait either. Regarding playing defence from up front in particular, we should have shared our ides between our forwards in terms of our positioning and who should take on who, things like that. I'm happy to be able to score against Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa High School. I still have issues like when I get behind the defensive line, so being aware of those issues, I would like to try anything all out in tomorrow's practice.

YAMASAKI Taichi (Sanfrecce Hiroshima FC Youth)
Our opponents today were both physically strong and they would move the ball fast, so it wound up being a good learning process for us. As we learned in practices, we got to know very well that if we take half-done positioning and that leads us to not be able to lay physical defence, we'd allow them to takes shots, and if we didn't provide accurate passes, we'd lose the ball away. I realised that I needed to have the ball more and ask for moves to anticipate play both offensively and defensively, so I want to practice that. I had a few plays that I wasn't beaten in battling for the ball physically, and it gave me some confidence.

FUKUDA Shinnosuke (Consadole Sapporo U-15)
I almost couldn't do anything. I'd allow them to have their side attacks over and over and because of the lack of our communication and linkage between ourselves, I wasn't able to settle our defensive line down. In the Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa High School, because we confirmed our distances with our midfielders and positioning, I think that we were able to reduce the occasions to allow the opponents to have decisive scoring opportunities.

Match Report

The Japan provisional national U-15 team played exhibitions against Ichiritsu Funabashi High School and Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa High School at Teikyo Heisei University campus. For both games, Japan U-15 switched their entire starting members, preparing for the two powerhouse teams of Chiba Prefecture.

In the morning, Japan took on Ichiritsu Funabashi. Japan aggressively switched their offence and defence and wouldn't let their opponents have decisive scoring chances early. But Ichiritsu Funabashi eventually created their own rhythm from their side attacks, and successfully scored a goal on 22nd minute. Japan allowed another on 44th, after a careless mistake in clearing the ball. “You guys don't have enough communication in between.

Regarding how  your take positions and take distances in between, discuss between yourselves,” Japan head coach Moriyama Yoshiro told his players during halftime. Yet Japan had to be defensive playing in their own territory in the second half.

Japan had a few scoring chances as Imamura Ryoichi's long shot hit a goal post, but weren't able to get on the scoreboard. On 54th minute, Japan once cleared the opponents' corner kick, but would let them take the ball again, and then allowed another goal. Tired Japan gave up more goals on 58th and 62nd en route to lose the contest 0-5 in the end.

In the afternoon, Japan U-15 squared off against Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa High School. Japan gave up a goal after they let Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa take behind their defensive line on 7th. But Japan showed quicker transition between offence and defence than in the morning. Morita Koki picked off a pass by the opponents and sent a through pass to Nakamura Keito. Nakamura composedly put it into the goal to tie it at 1 all.

But Japan allowed a goal from a side attack on 25th and then another from a corner kick on 53rd to give a 1-3 lead to Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa. On 56th minute, Egawa Genki sent a through pass to the front line and Yamada Hiroto scored for the second goal for Japan.

Japan against gave up a goal on 83rd, but cut the deficit to one as Hyodo Kento headed a cross from Tojyo Masaya into the goal. In the last minute, Yamada Hiroto took a shot but it went outside of the goalmouth. Japan took a 3-4 loss.
