Japan Beach Soccer National Team short-listed squad in Hyogo Camp (6/15)
16 June 2016
The Hyogo camp of the Japan Beach Soccer National Team short-listed squad entered its third day that started with the morning dazzling sunshine as the squad had a two-a-day training in the morning and afternoon.
The morning session mainly had shooting drills. The squad started with simple shots in pairs, and more players were added later to go through combinations, making sure to put each shot into goal.
The national team spent an hour and a half for a 5-on-5 scrimmage in the afternoon to go through attacking tactics. Coach Marcelo MENDES first had defenders only standing still and deliberately instructed with gestures where and how to move. Then the defenders were told to increase their activity gradually to make the drill closer to an actual match.
While it was the third day of the two-a-day training and things often did not go well for the players because of apparent fatigue, they called out to and communicate well with each other to implement Marcelo's tactics.
The final day of the four-day training camp on Thursday 16 is forecasted to have rain, but the players boosted up to finish in style without wasting the final day as well.
Players' Comments
TERUKINA Shingo (Sol Mar Praia)
This camp is focused on tactics. Both attacking and defending tactics are getting more detailed than before. Especially, a new thing was added to the defending tactic that we've worked on, and the players are trying to talk with each out of unfavourable situations. There is a big tournament called the Asian Beach Games this year. That's the tactic necessary to win the title. I will try to keep high spirit in the last training tomorrow and keep it up even after I go back to my own team.
SAKATA Jun (Aveldage Kumamoto BS)
This is my first national team camp, and I'm thankful to be given an opportunity to play in this environment. I was bewildered first until I got used to the atmosphere, but I'm determined to work hard to showcase my strength to be selected to the squad for the Asian Beach Games. My hometown Kumamoto got earthquakes and many people are forced to live under challenging conditions. I will try hard with pride to deliver positive news.
SAITO Masaki (Vamos a la Casa)
This camp had a lot of tactics training. And the squad tried to understand offence and defence that our coach is picturing as keeping a good level of tension. The past three days have been very productive and we've got good training and communicated well. Tomorrow is the final day of the camp. I will try to show what we've worked on so far. Lastly, I want to express my appreciation to my family and colleagues who sent me off to this camp and all the people who are involved in this camp.
