Japan Beach Soccer short-listed squad - Okinawa training camp (5/25)

Japan Beach Soccer short-listed team invited Sol Mar Praia and played a practice match on the fourth day of their training camp on Sunday 24 May. They had to play under sobering rains, but it was still a good opportunity for the players to try what they've practiced throughout the training camp so far. It also served as an occasion for them to showcase themselves in order to be selected for the final World Cup members. They intend to correct what they weren't able to do there in the reminder of the schedule, and develop the team even more going forward towards June's international friendlies and July's World Cup.

On the fifth day on Monday 25 May, the team went through training menus, mainly focusing on physical training in the morning, then had tactical training in the afternoon. In the morning session, the rainy and cloudy skies completely turned to a shiny Okinawa weather, and the goalkeepers were instructed by the position coach Nakagawa separately from the field players.

During the training camp, the four goalkeepers observed and pointed out what went good and what needed to be corrected with each other, and those scenes that they tried to develop their own levels were impressive.

Players' Comments

TERUKINA Shingo (Sol Mar Praia)
We achieved our minimum goal to earn a spot in the World Cup through March's AFC Beach Soccer Championship, but I wanted to win the championship. I think that if you can't win in Asia, it's going to be difficult to win in the world. So in this training camp, we are working on developing our defence, increasing our offensive variations and bettering our team communication. Individually, I would like to help the team have more plays that start from the goalkeeper and end up scoring.

As our opponents have been set in the group stage in the World Cup, our coach tell us the measurements against each opponents through the practices. We would like to build our team to carry them out in the World Cup. Personally, we got our first boy baby after the Asian qualifiers. For the baby, too, we would like to come up with positive outcomes in the World Cup.

HARAGUCHI Shotaro (Tokyo Lesquios BS)
Everyone has understood what coach Marcelo day in and day out in this training camp. We have taken better communication between the players and we have been training in a very good mood so far. Individually, I want to play, paying attention to the accuracy on my finishing and transitions between offence and defence more. We only have two more days in the camp, but I want to work hard until the end.

OBA Takaaki(Dorsole Kitakyushu)
We have seven days for this training camp and have been able to spend a lot of time with our teammates and head coach, so it's been valuable occasion for us to deepen our team work. Regarding our training, I feel that coach's demands have become more in detail towards the World Cup. I think that the entire team have focused on our training so we can understand coach's instructions and play as accurate as we can. For the World Cup, I still have a lot of issues individually, so I want to certainly fix them and have 120-percent preparation.
