Japan Beach Soccer national team report (3/22) - AFC Beach Soccer Championship Qatar 2015

23 March 2015

Japan Beach Soccer national team report (3/22) - AFC Beach Soccer Championship Qatar 2015

On 22 March, just the day before the first match of the championship, the Japan Beach Soccer National Team held an open practice session in the morning rain, which is a rarity in Doha. As the players were able use the championship pitch for an open practice session, they focused on picturing tomorrow’s game during the limited 45 minute training.

A Match Coordination Meeting before the championship was also held and representatives from each team as well as from the Asian Football Confederation attended. The attendees went through the rules and regulations of the championship and the colour of football shirts.

After dinner, the team held a meeting to get ready for their first match by watching a video of the friendly against the Azerbaijan national football team in Dubai, which allowed the players to go through their strengths and the areas that need improvement.

Players' Comments

MATSUO Naoya (Pracia Yamaguchi)
I think we felt the whole atmosphere and the tension of this championship during today’s open practice session. I’d like to be on the pitch tomorrow and play with confidence in our new tactics, which we’ve been practicing for approximately a year since Marcelo took over as head coach. As we tend to concede goals from our own mistakes, I’d like to play with fewer mistakes and play in our style. I believe that will get us a good result. Personally, I’d like to stay ambitious to score and have shots on goal.

OBA Takaaki (Dorsole Kitakyushu)
The championship will start tomorrow. I’d like to play well in each and every one of matches to get through the qualifying round. The experienced players make the atmosphere of this team better, always leading from the front. Although I’m the youngest, I’d like to give a big performance. I feel slightly nervous as it’s going to be my first qualifying round for the World Cup. I’d like to enjoy these nerves, though.
