U-19 Japan National Team, playing in the SBS Cup International Youth Soccer, started their training in Shizuoka. The Day 1 started at 4 p.m. Whereas players who played their match last weekend took up mainly running, the rest of the players, after warm-up, worked on passing and controlling drills, and 4-a-side with 3 goalkeepers passing session followed by a small-sided game with goalkeepers playing field positions.

The team will continue the training camp until 13 August to prepare for the first match against Colombia on 14 August. As the tournament is important for the upcoming AFC U-19 Championship in October, the team are hoping to take advantage of the competition to improve individually, as small units among the team and also as the whole team.

I'm happy to be selected as a team member of Japan for the SBC Cup. Because we don't have much time until the AFC Championship in October, I will try to play good football as well as achieve a good result in the SBS Cup. I will have more communications with other players and be well-prepared for the match.

KAWABE Hayao (Sanfrecce Hiroshima)
To be ready for the AFC Championship in October, we need to stick with both quality of football and result of the matches in the SBS Cup. Sometimes things go well, but sometimes things don't go well. Nevertheless, we will try fighting out and managing the match skilfully.

UCHIDA Yuto (Gamba Osaka)
By communicating with our teammates on and off the pitch and understanding the team concept, we will improve the level of the team. I'm looking forward to meeting good teams in the SBS Cup like Colombia National Team, Korea Republic National Team and Shizuoka Youth Selection. We will all get together to play each match to show good results, and hopefully win the tournament surpassing opponents as an individual, each unit among the team and the whole team.
