5 countries to participate in the “JENESYS2019 Youth Football Exchange Tournament”

As part of the Japan Football Association's (JFA) commitment to support “JENESYS2019," a programme promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, JFA will carry out the “JENESYS2019 Youth Football Exchange Tournament” which will take place between Wednesday 26 and Saturday 29 February. The event will serve as an exchange platform for the youth in Japan and the countries of ASEAN.
The tournament will take place at Ibusuki, Kagoshima, with a total of eight teams including, national teams ranging between the U-17 and U-19 categories from four ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste, U-17 Japan National Team, and two local teams, Kagoshima Selection U-18, and KAGOSHIMA UNITED FC U-18. During their stay, the participating teams will be given the opportunity to observe and experience the Japanese culture off the pitch.
JENESYS2019 Youth Football Exchange Tournament
Dates:
Wed. 26 – Sat. 29 February 2020
Venue:
Ibusuki Iwasaki Hotel Football Field (Ibusuki, Kagoshima)
Participating Teams:
A total of 8 teams including, national teams ranging between the U-17 and U-19 categories from 4 ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar), Timor-Leste, U-17 Japan National Team, Kagoshima Selection U-18, and KAGOSHIMA UNITED FC U-18
Tournament Format:
・Each team will consist with male players under the age of 19
・8 teams will be divided in 2 groups of 4 teams
・Round robin group stage followed by play-offs to decide rankings
・Each team may select up to 18 players and 5 officials
Remarks:
Participating teams of the tournament will be given the opportunity to observe and experience the Japanese culture during their stay

The JENESYS Programme (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) is a project advanced by the Japanese government from the standpoint of providing a sound foundation for strong solidarity within Asian and Oceanian countries through large-scale youth exchange.
