Japan futsal squad have their final day of the training camp
15 December 2016
The Japan Futsal National Team short-listed squad had their final day of the training camp on 14 December. Today they focused their practice session on shooting exercises.
The training started with 1-on-1 drills plus a neutral player, and followed by 2-on-2 exercises where they added players to create ‘outnumbered situations’. Depending on the team, they practiced having the numerical advantage or conversely disadvantage in offence or defence.
These training drills are designed for the players to constantly think and raise their concentration while practising team tactics. At the end, the team had an intrasquad game to check if they could apply what they have learned in the training sessions so far.
The players kept a good sense of tension while maintaining a high level of concentration throughout the camp. The training sessions went well and as planned without any injuries.
Players' Comments
NISHITANI Ryosuke (FUGADOR SUMIDA)
Today we had a meeting before practice to check upon the team concept and deepen our mutual understanding of the team. That helped us clarify what we need to do before practising on the court. In today’s training, new set plays with kicking-in were introduced, and we focused on improving the accuracy of both offensive and defensive plays. I think we were highly focused and, as a result, we were able to have a productive training today. We are going back to our teams now, and I will continue to work on my individual issues found during this camp.。
MINAMOTO Akira (FUCHU ATHLETIC F.C.)
We had an intense yet high-quality training on the last day of the camp. We still have to improve the quality of our plays or add more variety to our tactics. However, if we can keep our intensity in defence and swiftness in making offensive and defensive transitions, while maintaining a high level of fitness, I think we can succeed against any opponents. I believe this should be the standard of our national team.
I also think it is very important to boost up the level of futsal in Japan by keep this quality of training not only in the national squad but also in club teams. In this sense, each one of us should take what he learned during this camp back to his club team and share them with his teammates. I feel we have a better understanding of the team tactics now, so I just want to work hard to get the most out of every practice session or each training camp.
HARA Shinsuke (PESCADOLA MACHIDA)
For the past three days, we had a productive training while keeping a good sense of tension. Personally, I was inspired by the high level of training and learned a lot during this camp. I will take advantage of what I have learned here and keep working on them back at my club team. I will practise hard so that I will be called up to the national squad again.
