Futsal Japan National Team begin training camp in Nagoya for AFC Championship
17 April 2014
Futsal Japan National Team gathered in Nagoya after some days off following the Spain trip. They are finally in the final preparation phase for the AFC Futsal Championship.
Mayedonchi Matias Hernan of Nagoya Oceans was invited to replace Morioka Kaoru who injured during the Spain trip and had to leave the team.
The first day of the camp only saw light training in a friendly setting considering that players spent the previous day taking trains etc. and reporting to the camp. The menu included running, passing drills and another half-court drill involving holding a ball with hands.
The day also was the birthday of the team’s assistant coach / interpreter Komori Takahiro. He is just as an older-brother figure and life and soul for players, so the whole team celebrated his birthday with the cake and the flashy glasses Komori himself prepared for the celebration.
Comments From Head Coach
Miguel Rodrigo, Head Coach
We left for the Spain trip right after players finished their regular season. They were tired. Their conditions were not at their best. Even though it was the case, we had an objective for the trip. Our objective was to get used to the high level of strategic speed and accuracy of judgement. I think we achieved that objective. On the other hand, this Nagoya camp focuses on strengthening our physicality, especially our physical quickness, as we continue that strategic speed we learned in Spain. We want to complete our preparation in terms of these two areas, and get ready for our journey to win another AFC Championship.
