Mali is top after the rainy second matches of the U-16 International Dream Cup 2016
25 June 2016
On 24 June, the U-16 International Dream Cup 2016 Japan Presented by JFA, which had started on 22 June in Tottori, held its second matches.
The U-16 Hungary National Team, who played against Japan in the previous match, played against the U-16 Mexico National Team, and they scored the first goal in the 11th minute; Anton Bidzilya passed the ball to Norman Timári who sneaked into the space behind a Mexican defender and scored the opening goal.
Hungary continued to take control and didn’t allow Mexico to move the ball to the front of the goal. In the 2nd half, Mexico gradually gained the time to attack, but they gave the second goal to Hungary via an own goal. As a result, Hungary beat Mexico 2-0.
The match of U-16 Japan National Team vs U-16 Mali National Team kicked off with 2,200 fans.
The match didn’t move from the beginning. In the 38th minute, Japan’s KUBO Takefusa crossed to HIRAKAWA Rei and his volley shot successfully found the net. Japan got the opening goal. However, Mali began to take control from the 2nd half.
Two Mali players Mamadou Samake and Sibiry Keita scored in the 52nd and the 56th minute. Japan tried to get an equaliser, but the match ended with Mali’s victory 2-1. After the match, Mali’s substitute players ran into the pitch to share the bursting joy of the victory with their teammates.
As a result, Mali has 2 wins with 6 points and became top of the competition. If they beat Hungary in the last match on 26 June, they will get the title. Japan is currently in the second position and still has a possibility to win the title. They will play against Mexico, who is desperate to win one match in this competition.
The players from each different continent have seriously competed against each other with different playing styles, and the competition is already coming towards the end on 26 June.
The match of the U-16 Hungary National Team vs the U-16 Mali National Team will kick off at 12:00, and the U-16 Japan National Team vs the U-16 Mexico National Team will kick off at 14:30 at Tottori Bird Stadium. Entrance charge is free.
Coaches' Comments
Attila Belvon, Coach (U-16 Hungary National Team)
The players have recovered from tiredness gradually and their condition has been better since the first match. Today they had better combination and could play with a good level of concentration. For the next match against Mali, I expect them to perform well in a much better condition.
Enrique Echeverria Perez, Coach (U-16 Mexico National Team)
The previous matches against Mali and Hungary were tough for us. These 2 teams had stronger physical contacts, and the rain, wind, and humidity also made us be in a challenging situation. However, it is such a precious experience for Mexico to play against the teams with different play styles. We will do our best in the next match against Japan.
