The 31st All Japan High School Women's Football Championship to kick-off on 30 December
26 December 2022
The 31st All Japan High School Women's Football Championship will kick-off on Friday 30 December, as the first round will be held at five venues in Hyogo.
32 teams qualified from nine regions will compete in a knock-out tournament to determine this year’s number one high school girls’ team.
Last year, the tournament ended with Kamimura Gakuen High School (Kyushu 1/Kagoshima) defeating Hinomoto Gakuen High School (Kansai 2/Hyogo) 3-0 to claim the title for the first time since 2005.
In addition to last year’s two finalists, Jumonji High School (Kanto 1/Tokyo), who finished second in this year’s Inter-High School Championships, and Fujieda Junshin High School (Tokai 1/Shizuoka), who claimed four of the seven recent championships, are in the hunt for the title. Five teams are also competing for the first time, including Asahikawa Jitsugyo High School (Hokkaido 2), Shoshi High School (Tohoku 2/Fukushima) and Saku Chosei High School (Hokushinetsu 2/Nagano).
This tournament has produced many Nadeshiko Japan (Japan Women's National Team) players such as KUMAGAI Saki (FC Bayern Munich) and MIYAZAWA Hinata (Mynavi Sendai Ladies). Many of these players have gone on to join WE League teams after experiencing this tournament, making this a great platform for discovering new talents of the next generation.
The final is scheduled to take place on Sunday 8 January 2023 at Noevir Stadium, just after the WE League match between INAC Kobe Leonessa and Albirex Niigata Ladies. Please stay tuned to witness the hotly contested matches between the young players who are the future of Japanese football.
