Winners' Comments
SATO Kazuki, Coach
I have always been demanding the players to compete with self-independence. Wishfully speaking, the team should be able to win without the coach (jokingly, with only the team mascot, Dorompa, in the bench). It’s been eight years since the last title and I am happy that we were able to share the victory with our coaching staff and supporters. This year U-23 team are enlisted in the J3, the third division of J. League. There are players who currently play for both U-18 and U-23 teams. Winning this tournament is very important to the future of the club.
HASUKAWA Sodai (Captain)
Our aim was to win this tournament this year and I was elated when the final whistle was blown. The match was held in Tokyo, our home town, and many supporters came to cheer our team. I felt like 'we cannot lose in front of them.' There were many positive takeaways from the tournament. Nothing is certain until the final whistle in football, and as a captain I encouraged the players 'to keep pushing.' In the future, we would like to make a lasting impression to all the viewers of our game, at the same time attaining our personal goals.
