The JFA KIRIN Ladies'/Girls' Soccer Festival is a football event for every woman. They experience mini games (with a limited number of players) and training booths for practicing shooting, passing and dribbling. This programme is intended for all ages from children to adults and for both beginners and experienced players so that everyone can enjoy themselves and get to know each other to improve their football skills.

664 participants, including 223 beginners, met at J-GREEN Sakai in Osaka for either the morning session, the afternoon session or the evening session on Sunday 12 October. Noda Akemi, JFA Special Director/Women’s Committee Chairman and Miyamoto Tomomi, the former Nadeshiko Japan player participated in the sessions as special guests.

At the closing ceremony, some awards were presented by Noda Akemi - the ‘Ladies’ Award’ was given to an adult who tried her hardest; the ‘Girls’ Award’ was given to a child who did her best; and the ‘Festival Award’ to those who enjoyed the day most. From the special sponsor Kirin Groups, the ‘Kirin Award’ was given to everyone who participated.

It was my second time to participate in this festival and I enjoyed myself thoroughly. It was great that we got to know each other by playing football together without even introducing ourselves. It was a good session for the beginners as well. I tried six different sessions. There were more than last year. I will definitely come back next time again.

Special guest’s comment

NODA Akemi, JFA Special Director/Women’s Committee Chairman
I was one of the earliest members of the women’s national team. The other guest, Miyamoto Tomomi, was the second generation. Then now there are Sawa and Miyama in Nadeshiko Japan, all of them have the same three principles that we had: ‘never give up’; ‘stay happy and cheerful’, which you all showed me today; and ‘respect others’. To ‘respect’ has a wide meaning, such as being grateful, caring about your friends and taking care of your stuff. I’ve always had these principles in mind and do what I can in order to spread football now.
I really enjoyed seeing you all myself today. You’re all members of the women’s football family. Everyone, including ourselves, who has something to do with this festival today, is a member of this family; no matter if you are a man or a woman.

I hope you will remember how you feel today, stay happy and cheerful, being proud to be a member of the family, and become the kind of woman player, who is very polite. I’m very grateful to those, who support this festival. Thank you, everyone!
