After being postponed for six months due to the effects of COVID-19, the Class S Coach Training Course 2020 has finally started, and we are now into the third week of the online course. After taking the short course and three weeks of intensive courses, we have now concluded Module1. We are grateful to be given the opportunity to participate in this course despite the tough situation, and we are all giving our best efforts to make the most of this learning experience.
This week’s first lecture was on “Mental Training,” where Ms. TANAKA OULEVEY Miyako taught us how to cope with our stresses. We learned the importance to understand ourselves before trying to understand our opponent. In order to learn how to cope with our stresses, we must first understand when and how we get emotional and what tendencies we have.
On the second day, each participant selected a club from the 18 J1 clubs to analyse a match from the day before. Each participant selected a team who shares a similar football philosophy with them and picked out both an offensive and defensive scene from the match to construct an analytical presentation. With the participants selecting scenes that linked with their own concept, each presentation displayed different perspectives even when the participants selected the same club. I was deeply inspired by these different points of view and values, and we were able to spend a very productive time together.
Through the past month, I was able to learn so much from the lecturers, instructors, participants, and students who have supported our course. We have deepened our understandings through trial and errors, held numerous discussions, and repeated the process over and over to heighten the quality of our trials. Unlike the past years, the entire course will be held in a four month span, which makes this trial and error process that much more important.
Module1 has concluded, but Module2 will follow soon after. I am eager to gain more inspiration and learning experiences, so I will give my utmost efforts in the remaining three months of the course.
